Keeps Your Transmission Running Cool! The pump assembly may be the single most important part of any automatic transmission and the one most often overlooked. As the heart of the transmission it supplies fluid volume and pressure that handles everything from lubrication to clutch slippage. Not enough volume will starve the rotating assemblies and destroy the transmission too much may blow out seals in critical areas leaving you stranded. Performing a trans overhaul without replacing or rebuilding the pump is like an engine overhaul without replacing the rings. The level 10 pump is modified to supply all the volume the transmission can use at pressures that insure solid clutch lock.
